Pooch Tips
Instead of spending $10 - $20 for a leash which may not be exactly what you want, try making your own. REI and other outdoor stores sell different types of nylon ropes and clasps, perfect for assembling your own leash. You can usually put together a better leash for around $2 - $3.
Dog Etiquette

Be a responsible dog owner and practice good dog etiquette...

  • Always pick up after your dog. If you see other poop on the ground pick it up too. Chances are at one time or another your dog left a poop that you didn't catch. Offer poop bags to those who don't pick up after their dog.
  • Do not allow your dog to dig holes, chase wildlife, or damage the environment in any way. These are some of the main reasons dogs are prohibited from most national parks.
  • Carry a leash at all times. Leash your dog to and from the off-leash areas.
  • Be near, and in control of, your dog at all times. Do not allow your pooch to bark excessively or harass other dogs.
  • Keep your dog properly vaccinated and licensed. Click here for information about how to license your dog.
  • Try to avoid bringing small children into off-leash areas. If you must do so, keep them within arms reach at all times.
  • Be aware of park regulations, and follow them.
