4th Annual Canines Uncorked -- Sit, Stay, and Sip at Oregon Wineries

A select group of Oregon wineries are inviting the public -- and their pooches -- to enjoy the most unusual wine event of the year. The fourth annual Canines Uncorked wine tour on August 9 will highlight 14 North Willamette Valley wineries where dogs are counted among the guests of honor. While you taste a Pinot Noir, for example, your dog could be enjoying a pet massage. While you sip a Chardonnay, your dog could be navigating an agility course. In the mood for a Gewurztraminer? Perhaps Fido would enjoy sampling a dog-friendly ice-cream sundae? A "Licenses to Taste" passport includes free tasting and free dog activities at each participating winery. Passports are $40 in advance ($45 day of), with 100% of the Passport fee benefiting pets in need. The passport is good through the entire month of August. Visit our event calendar for more details on this event and others.

Dogs, Donuts, and Sustainable Stormwater

On Saturday, October 5, KPFF Consulting Engineers invites you, your family and your favorite hound(s) to The Fields Neighborhood Park to walk, parade, talk and enjoy treats in the autumn air. The Fields, The Pearl District's newest and largest park, is a 3.2-acre engineering marvel of Fido-friendliness, featuring a dog park with three-ft-high fences and soft gravel surfaces for sensitive paws. There's an 8,000-sf off-leash area and even a special spot for small/shy dogs. KPFF civil engineers kept the dogs in mind in our design, with permeable pavement and vegetated rain garden infiltration basins to mitigate the need for piped storm drainage utilities. KPFF celebrates The Fields and its two sister parks, Tanner Springs and Jamison Square with a fun and informative tour highlighting sustainable design features led by project civil designer Deanna Hutchinson and her Great Dane, Tiberius. Our walk will be followed by coffee and delicious donuts from Delicious Donuts for humans and treats for their canine companions at The Fields. Leashes are required, except in off-leash areas at The Fields. Visit our event calendar for more info. [Oct 3, 2013]
